Romance is at last in the air for Hercules and Medusa until she is kidnapped by a cruel moneylender, Kyros. In exchange for her life Kyros demands that Hercules retrieves a precious and powerful artefact from the Underworld – a task which can only mean certain death. With only one day to fulfil the ransom, its a race against time for Hercules and his loyal friends. Will they find another way to descend to Hades and return with the artefact, or be forced to walk among the dead forever? Whatever the outcome, the gods have spoken and someone, somewhere is about to pay a terrible price.

Hercules and Medusa share a romantic night together, finally expressing their feelings towards each other. But that was until they are kidnapped by thugs led by the cruel moneylender, Kyros, whom Hercules owed money to, which he was robbed of. At first, Kyros had intentions of killing Hercules, but chose to spare his life if he preformed a simple errand for him. To retrieve a box of unknown contents, that is to be found in Campe’s lair in Hades, the realm of the dead. When Kyros mentioned Hercules reputation in killing the Minotaur, Hercules stated that he was exaggerating before insisting that Kyros should just kill him any way since descending to Hades means certain death. But Kyros threatens to kill Medusa instead if Hercules did not retrieve the box by midnight the next day before knocking him out with a staff.

The next morning, Jason and Pythagoras decided to go to the market to buy some food for breakfast, due to a moulded loaf of bread, before finding Hercules tied up and left out of their apartment. Hercules explains what happened and tells them about his errand to descend to the underworld to retrieve the mysterious box. Pythagoras recalls hearing stories of people descending to Hades and returning. To find more of how to do it, the trio decide to find Eunapius, a devoted servant of Hades’s wife, Persephone.

Eunapius finally agree and tells them the ritual needed to travel to Hades. Jason and Hercules had to first cleanse their bodies, before giving a lock of their hair as an offering to Persephone. Pythagoras
